Boil water in a large pan, add salt to taste. Don't add oil or butter to the water.
Place the spaghetti in the pan whole, with one side fully submerged in the water - you don't need to break it.
After 30 seconds, the spaghetti will become soft - using tongs gently bend it so more of the spaghetti is covered.
Stir the spaghetti in a circular direction until it is fully submerged in the boiling water.
Follow the cooking time on the pack - usually around ten minutes.
Occasionally stir the spaghetti with tongs to prevent it sticking together or to the pan.
When the time is up, remove a piece to test - it should be soft with a little bite (al dente).
Drain in a colander, then return to the pan.
Add sauce straight away to prevent the spaghetti sticking together and serve.
