Measure cups of Japanese rice 🍚 & pour into a pot. One cup gives you about 3-5 rolls. 🍣
Rinse the rice with water to get rid of excess starch.
Add 1.2 cups of water for each cup of rice. 💧
Start by cooking on high, until the water is boiling.
When it starts to bubble, turn down to medium heat & place a lid on the pot.
Make sure to occasionally check on the rice & mix it.
When the rice is done, add 1/2 cup of sushi seasoning (or rice vinegar + sugar) for every 3 cups of rice. 🍚
Mix the sushi seasoning into the rice well.
Cover the rice with a damp tea towel & place it in a cool place to rest. Do not put it in the fridge.
While waiting for the rice to cool down, slice up your sushi filling into strips.
Get your sushi mat & ingredients ready: you can wrap the sushi mat in cling film - this make it easier to clean.
Take out a piece of nori & place on the mat with the shiny side facing down & the rough side facing upwards.
Place your fillings on the side closest to you.
Roll with the bamboo mat tightly, making sure your roll is secure.
Cut your sushi up & serve! 🍣
