Use a compost bin for food waste, then use in the garden or put in your brown bin

It's quicker and more efficient to boil water in an electric kettle, then transfer to a pan

Make sure you're using the right size hob - if you can see flames around the pan, that heat is being wasted

Only boil the amount of water you need - don't fill the kettle for one cup of tea

Set your freezer to -18C (OF) - any lower is inefficient and higher risks wasted food

Save left over food in the fridge, but let it cool for 30mins at room temperature so you don't heat up your fridge

Don't leave the tap running while washing up, fill a bowl or sink instead

Re-use jars and containers to store other items
